#365 Love is not about being single, it is about being social

Too good to be true?

When I was growing up, I swore I would never do things or repeat sayings that my mother threw at me, which drove me insane!

Then again, she would also warn me to be careful, "you are gonna eat your words some day!"

A male friend recently told me, that they had met someone who was "too good to be true". WARNING...red lights went flashing and whirling around in my head and all I wanted to say was WATCH OUT!!! It may be true, but you could also not be looking at the right signals.

I have not been single for very long, but because of the nature of this self-imposed journey to find love, I have met a lot of different people. Dated some, talked to some, shared experiences with others and read a lot of love stories/surveys from others following me on this quest.

I too have met a couple men that I thought were too good to be true at first and guess what...they were not. So, who are they?

They are individuals, strangers with many layers, like the proverbial onion we often refer to (there goes my mother again!) All we see at first is the silky outer skin, sometimes even a different color than the other layers below, that makes up the whole.

We don’t take the time to peel back those layers- instead the choice is often to start chopping and dicing because we are hungry. What can happen as a result is that we are left in tears.

The many layers and colors, until you get to the pure white core

Sadly for this gentleman, my words of caution were thrown to the compost and he had to learn the hard way- like many before him.

"I hate to say I told you so" UGH...there she goes again!

Have you ever met someone that was too good to be true, only to find out they were not who you thought?

XO
Cheryl
